The eBook of Love

The eBook of Love

a play by Tom Misuraca

a Staged Reading directed by Sarah O’Connell

The eBook of Love is a story of modern dating. All action takes place at a coffee house where Deirdre mistakes Ruben for a blind date. On impulse, Ruben goes with it. Meanwhile, Steve, the man Deirdre stood up, tries to heal his hurt by pursuing Megan, a widow he only saw from a distance. But Megan is turned off when Steve attempts to find her via a CraigsList ad. These two “love” stories play out while Troy, a gay man looking to settle down, keeps encountering Ethan, a very promiscuous gay man who is attached to his smartphone. These three couples can only hope that the modern communications that have made a mess of things will also help them find the right partners.

TOM MISURACA (PLAYWRIGHT) studied writing at Emerson College in his home town of Boston. After graduations, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue screenwriting, but was bitten by the theater bug instead. Over fifty of his oneact plays have been produced in theaters all over the world, many winning audience favorite awards. Four of his fulllengths were produced in Southern California: Geeks! The Musical, The ParaAbnormals, Edgar along with Tenants. All played to sold out crowds and great reviews. Geeks! went on to be produced OffOff Broadway, and is currently running in San Diego. This year, he won two writing awards: The Pickering Award for his oldage superhero play, Golden Age, which was produced in Michigan; and the Las Vegas Little Theatre New Works award for Little Black Book, which was produced in Las Vegas in April. He is a member or the Los Angeles Alliance of Playwrights and First Stage L.A. When he’s not writing, he works as a graphic designer.

Stephen Sondheim and George Furth expertly blend the excitement and energy of a backstage musical with a poignant and emotional contemporary story about the souring of ideals and the erosions of friendships.

Merrily We Roll Along contains popular Broadway songs “Not a Day Goes By”, “Old Friends”, and “Good Thing Going”.
